Colonialism and Ableism: Resources

At On Being Ill, we aim to unsettle deeply rooted beliefs around ability and disability that have entwined origins and implications in colonial thinking and actions.

Movements for disability justice and Indigenous resistance and resurgence stand in strong opposition to ableist and colonial devaluing of people and communities that matter deeply to our world. The core members of the Creative Entanglement Collaboratory and On Being Ill are white settlers who turn to those with experiential knowledge working at the intersection of Indigeneity and disability for collective learning, reflection, and action.

We have brought together some of the resources that have expanded our understanding of the connections between settler colonialism and ableism, and invite you to learn alongside us.
